Can California detectives come into your home and do DNA swabs without permission?

20 yr old murder case-someone worked with the female who got shot-detectives lied saying the male had an affair with the female and that he had a handgun registered in his name. No proof of handgun at all from detectives. Can they legally come into the home unannounced and do a dna swab?
