Do you have to have a fever and vomiting to have strep throat?

I've got all of the symptoms of tonsillitis. After doing some research, I discovered that tonsillitis may or may not be caused by strep throat. I have had no symptoms of strep throat except for a sore throat. I haven't had A fever or any vomiting at all. I really want to avoid going to the doctor and getting my throat swabbed because I hate that more than anything in this world. What do you think?
